The rainy season is fast approaching and it sucks. Before I wave goodbye to summer 2008, there's still room for one more getaway. Annie and I went to Bohol and enjoyed everything this place has to offer...

Annie and I arrived in Tagbilaran at around 1:30pm. We booked a room at El Portal Inn which was 4 minutes away from the airport. It was a really nice place and the staff was absolutely helpful when I found out that I lost the key to my luggage (fcuk!). In less than 5 minutes after I asked for assistance, they helped me by breaking the lock with a hand saw. As soon as we solved my luggage dilemma, we headed to Panglao Island. The flat rate for a cab ride outside the city is Php400. You can opt to use the meter but you have to double the total bill. After like 30 minutes, we reached Bohol Bohol Club.

This place is absolutely perfect. From the white beach...

to the relaxing ambiance to the wonderful facilities this world class resort offers.

It's like a giant postcard when I look around.

Second day in Bohol started as early as 5am. We headed to Alona Aquatica Resort, our starting point for our Sea Tour. We arranged this with Mang Viao for 1,500 excluding of snorkeling gears.

First stop, dolphin watching at Pamilacan. We really enjoyed this one. Dolphins are the cutest creatures on earth (next to penguins of course haha!). We had fun chasing them cause as soon as they sensed the boats coming in, they immediately disappear. After a hour or so, we moved on to Balicasag.
The marine sanctuary is phenomenal. We had so much fun snorkeling that we probably did that for like an hour. When we headed back to the shore, we bought some souvenirs and then went straight to Puntod or Virgin Island. The name suits the island.
It's a sight to behold.
A little past noon, we were back in Alona Aquatica. We hopped on a cab and went straight to Panglao Island Nature Resort, another world-class resort here in Bohol. The first thing I noticed was their infinity pool plus and then the man-made island.

Before taking an afternoon dip, we had a long lunch at the cozy gazebo. We spent a couple of hours swimming both at the white beach and the infinity pool.

We also swam all the way to the man-made island.

The whole resort was really a perfect place to chill out. I forgot any form of stress I've had. When we headed back to Tagbilaran, we dined at Jo's Chicken Inato, a local resto that was recommended on travel forums we often visit.

The food was great. The service was slow. Tsk tsk tsk... The resto is literally full of chickens. From the door to the wall to the table and even the chairs.
Since the night life was non-existent and we were not yet sleepy despite starting the day early, we went to BQ mall and watched Indiana Jones. haha! Movie tickets here were cheap. 80 bucks only! Only half of what we pay to watch a movie in Manila. And the movie houses there were comparable to those in Podium.

The fourth Indy movie was unremarkable. There were some funny scenes but that was it. Cate Blanchett, who played the lead antagonist, was saving grace of that movie.
After that, we went back to the Inn and watched random TV programs before sleeping. Muscle pains were beginning to sink in at that time. We've been swimming for the last two days after all.
We scheduled the countryside tour on our 3rd day. Mang Willy was our driver slash tour guide that day. We learned about him through Girl Talk. Our stops that day were: The man-made forest, Chocolate Hills, Butterfly Garden, Hanging Bridge, Loboc River, Tarsier Sanctuary, Prony (the biggest phyton in captivity), Dauis Church, Alburquerque Church,m Baclayon Church and Bohol Bee Farm. We also went on a one-stop souvenir shop.
Chocolate hills is probably the most famous tourist attraction here. And I wouldn't dare ask why because it's truly picturesque.
According to Mang Willy, it was originally called Carmen Hills since it was situated in the town of Carmen. But during the American Occupation, it was changed to Chocolate Hills (because it resembles to Hershey's Chocolate Kisses).
More than 200 steps later...
we reached the viewing deck.

After our brief stop at the Butterfly Garden and Hanging Bridge, we proceeded to Loboc river to have our lunch at the floating restaurant. The Loboc river cruise is another must try activity. Buffet lunch at Riverwatch costs Php300 per person. There was nothing special about the food but the fresh fruits they served were just too yummy. I lost count how mangoes I ate the entire time I was there. The cruise was such a pleasurable experience with a scenic view and cool breeze.

After that, we visited the Tarsier Sanctuary. Tarsiers are the world's smallest primate. They are nocturnal, feed on crickets, with eyes bigger than their brains.

In Alburquerque, we went to the dwelling of Prony, the longest and biggest Phyton in captivity.

According to the care taker, Prony consumes one whole pig or two goat per month. Visitors have the option to go inside the cage at their own risk. I'd die before I even consider that.. haha!
We also visited three beautiful churches, namely, Baclayon, Alburquerque and Dauis.

The latter has a well near the altar. It contains fresh water despite its proximity to the sea. It was said to be miraculous and we would've gotten some water but there was an ongoing mass at that time and we're not allowed to go near it.
We also had a quick tour around the Bee Farm and dropped by the Blood Compact site.

Last stop for the day was the one-stop souvenir shop. I hoarded some native delicacies to give as pasalubong.
The day was indeed long but we were not yet done. We had dinner at BQ mall and went to a computer shop. Yeah yeah we couldn't last a week without a computer.. haha! I didn't bring brandon so no other choice but to rent. After checking our e-mails and saying hello to a few friends, we called it a day.
Our flight back to Manila was scheduled at 9:35. After having our breakfast, we left El Portal Inn and arrived at Tagbilaran airport at around 8:30. We were informed early on that the flight would be delayed for 2 hours. So, after checking-in, we went out for another pasalubong shopping spree.. hahaha! We chose to do that instead of waiting at the small, jam-packed lounge.
We got back a few minutes before we saw our plane touching down the runway.
We arrived here a few minutes past 1pm. Reality sinked in that vacation time was over once again. But it made me feel great knowing that we were able to fulfill another destination on our very very very long "Travel List".

I can't wait til our next trip.
Traveling is an addiction.****
